Restoration software

Take Action:

Tend to a neglected relationship.

Why It Matters:

As families spread out, colleagues leave for greener pastures, and friends find new lives, we lose the social connections that (literally) sustain us. Restoring those connections is possible — and requires surprisingly little effort.

How To Do It:

  1. Listen to yourself. You already know who you love, who you miss, and who you haven’t connected with in too long. Pen in hand, write their name down.

  2. Remember. Recall why you are close, remembering a specific event when you were together and joyful. Write down the event, along with two or three small details that make it “real” in your mind.

  3. Reject. It’s easy to fear a negative reaction to your reach out. What if they don’t remember you with the same fondness? What if they didn’t like you in the first place? Banish these thoughts as the product of an overactive imagination, instead recalling the irrefutable evidence of your past experiences together.

  4. Call. It will be the best thing you do this week.
